These photos were taken in November 2016. They were the final photos of two sets of native perennial legumes planted in companion with broccoli. Two species are being trialed here: goatsrue (T. virginiana) and indigobush (Amorpha fruticosa). Ideally, we’d do soil analyses before and after planting these legumes for bioavailable nitrogen content, and that may be done in the coming seasons. For now, we’re seeing if the legumes will live or not, and how well they survive their first full year in the ground (2017).
